ENCORE PERFORMANCE: 300 YEARS OF LUMINOUS SOUND

  • Carver Community Cultural Center 226 North Hackberry Street San Antonio, TX, 78202 United States (map)

Texas has undoubtedly one of the richest and most turbulent histories of any state, from the thousands of years of Native American culture, to Spanish explorations in the 1500s, a brief French colonization in the late 1600s, Mexico’s ownership after the War of Independence, the Texas Revolution of 1836 that led to the Republic of Texas, and finally to its incorporation into the United States. Each musical work on this program acknowledges in its own way a nation or culture that has affected this unique state and its rare history. Musical selections by Bresnick, Shaw, Ives, Ponce, Bolcom, Messiaen, and Turina will be curated to light by designer Chuck Drew.
